The DTI Code of Conduct defines the behavioral standards expected of students, instructors, staff, and guests to maintain a respectful, safe, and academically honest environment. It addresses respectful interaction, academic integrity, safety requirements, and reporting procedures.
1. Purpose & Applicability
The Code of Conduct applies to everyone on DTI premises or representing DTI in any capacity—whether in‐person or online—including:

All members of the DTI community are expected to uphold the following core principles:

Respect and Courtesy

Engage courteously in all interactions, honoring diversity in culture, religion, gender, age, ability, and background.

Use inclusive language; avoid slurs, insults, or harassment of any kind.

Listen actively and allow others to express dissenting viewpoints without interruption.

Academic Integrity

Submit only original work and properly cite sources when referencing other authors.

Refrain from cheating, plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, or sharing exam materials.

Promptly report any observed breaches of academic honesty to an instructor or administrator.

Safety and Professionalism

Adhere to all DTI health and safety guidelines (including COVID-19 protocols, fire drills, and emergency evacuations).

Maintain professional behavior—no running in corridors, no blocking exits, and no horseplay that could endanger others.

Dress appropriately, reflecting a professional learning atmosphere.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Do not share personal data (names, contact information, academic records) of peers, instructors, or staff without explicit consent.

Respect DTI’s proprietary materials; do not distribute any confidential course content without authorization.

Harassment & Discrimination Prohibited

Harassment (verbal, physical, or written) or discrimination based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic is strictly forbidden.

If you witness or experience harassment or discrimination, you must report it immediately to DTI’s Office.
3. Digital Conduct (Online Environments)

Virtual Classroom Etiquette:

Log in punctually; mute your microphone when not speaking.

Use appropriate virtual backgrounds and minimize distractions (e.g., close unrelated browser tabs).

Keep chat usage relevant to course content—no side conversations, spam, or offensive remarks.

Social Media Guidelines:

When posting about DTI on personal social channels, ensure accuracy and respectful representation of the Institute.

Do not share private discussion threads, instructor‐only materials, or confidential documents without permission.

Use DTI’s official hashtags and handles only if your content reflects the Institute’s values and upholds confidentiality.

4. Consequences for Violations
Violation of the Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following disciplinary actions, depending on the severity and frequency of the offense:

Verbal Warning

Issued for minor or first‐time infractions, such as repeated tardiness or minor disruptions.

Written Warning
-
Given for moderate offenses, including unprofessional language or minor breaches of academic integrity.

Removal from Course or Event
-
For serious misconduct (e.g., harassment, academic dishonesty, endangering others). No refund or credit will be provided for any remaining sessions.

Suspension or Termination of Enrollment

For gross misconduct—physical violence, forging documents, repeated severe violations. Enrollment may be terminated, and no refunds will be issued.

Referral to Authorities

If an incident involves illegal activity (theft, assault, threats), DTI will cooperate fully with law enforcement.

5. Reporting Procedures & Appeals

Reports may be submitted anonymously, though including your contact information helps expedite a fair investigation.

Investigation Process:
-
Intake: An Officer conducts an initial, confidential interview with the complainant.
-
Evidence Collection: Statements are gathered from those involved, along with any relevant documentation (e.g., emails, screenshots). Campus security footage may be reviewed if necessary.

Review Panel: An impartial panel—consisting of two senior instructors and one administrative representative—evaluates the findings and determines appropriate actions.
-
Outcome Notification: Both complainant and respondent receive a written decision within 14 business days of the initial report.

Appeals:

If either the complainant or the respondent believes the decision was unjust, they may submit an appeal to the DTI Director’s Office within 7 days of receiving the outcome letter.

The Director’s Office will review the appeal, and a final ruling will be issued within 14 business days of appeal submission.

6. Policy Revisions

DTI reserves the right to revise this Code of Conduct at any time.

Revisions will be posted on the DTI website at least 30 days before they take effect.
